Running for beginers

Running For Beginners

Let’s face it, most new runners over 35 years old are running not because they enjoy it, but because they have goals in mind.
  • Better Health to see the Kids and grandkids grow up
  • The Doctor made me do it
  • Losing weight
  • New Year’s resolution
  • Running a 5k
Where do you start?  And who do you start with?  We realize that most of us need others to help with accountability and encouragement.
At MyOutdoorJoy, we have joined forces with local running experts and a team of coaches who will guide us through a 10-week class based on the walk/run model.  This program is focused on people with limited or no running experience, or those who have not run in several years.   We learn a variety of skills, from breathing correctly and proper form to selecting the appropriate footwear.
This is a 10-week commitment that you have to make to yourself.   During the 10 weeks, we will run on up to 3 different greenways to explore Charlotte and neighboring areas.  This will help build stamina on various terrains.  This is going to be an investment in your health and a way to meet new running buddies with a similar skill level.
What is the Program:

Enjoy nature by participating in one of our events. Since many of our participants are new to the outdoors, we can also provide equipment or gear to use.

  • Instructor-led class once per week or twice per week
  • Participants walk/jog two (2)  additional times per week together, or you can run/ jog with another participant.
  • Commit 45 minutes 3 times per week to the program.
Who Should Attend:
  •  Anyone looking to learn proper running/jogging skills
  • Anyone needing an accountability group/ partner
  • Anyone who would like to run a 5k
